Description: Therapeutic intervention for post-surgical repair of both flexor and extensor tendons will be covered in this class. Immobilization, early passive mobilization, and early active mobilization protocols of both flexor and extensor tendon repairs will be presented.
Objectives:
- Describe flexor and extensor tendon anatomy of the hand
- Demonstrate and understanding of the role of an occupational therapist in providing therapeutic intervention to a client with various flexor and extensor tendon injuries/repairs
- Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate protocol driven therapeutic interventions necessary to facilitate the healing process and improve occupational performance following tendon repair
The courses are approved by the New York State Board for Occupational Therapy for up to 2 Continued Competency Hours (CCH) (.2CEU)
