Full course description
It is estimated that as many as 1 in 2 individuals will be experiencing cancer as a chronic disease in the next decade. Today, due to medical advances many more individuals are surviving cancer than in the past , though the cancer itself and its treatment often leave individuals with functional deficit, poor sleep quality, pain, anxiety, and diminished quality of life. Thus given the increases in cancer prevalence and increasing survivorship, there is an expanding rehabilitative health care role in serving individuals with cancer and those surviving cancer. In this course, you will learn about cancer as a disease process and the role of gentle, immune boosting Tai chi/Qigong exercise and its future role in Cancer care. While the course was developed to prepare experienced Tai chi/Qigong instructors and instructors-in-training to serve individuals with cancer, the course is also suitable for individuals with cancer and cancer survivors who practice Tai chi/Qigong.
